Today we dig into the 4th law from the Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success by Deepak Chopra, which is the Law of Least Effort. Let’s start by reading a passage from Deepak Chopra’s book “The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success”. He says, and I quote: "Grass doesn’t try to grow, it just grows. Fish don't try to swim, they just swim. Flowers don't try to bloom, they bloom. Birds don't try to fly, they fly. This is their intrinsic nature." There are 3 grounding components of the law of least effort, and we are going to dip our toes in all of them today. These are Acceptance, responsibility, and defencelessness. 1. ACCEPTANCE: We have talked about this before in different contexts, but this is the idea of accepting what is, who you are, where you are right now in your evolution or growth. In order to move forward, you first need to know where you are and accept your starting point. Don't try to force something to be something other than what it already is. You wouldn’t try to make a fish fly, that would be ridiculous. You wouldn’t climb Mount Everest tomorrow, that would be imprudent. You would have to accept where you are in your fitness today, and train from that starting point, in order to make the big climb. With acceptance, we gain new energy, our efforts become less strained, we are more grounded in love and pure expression. We also make space for our self-confidence, our self-expression, and as we saw a few days ago, our pure potentiality. In her book “Loving what is”, Byron Katie makes a really funny comment that we have quoted many times on the channel because it is simply perfect. She says: “I realized that it’s insane to oppose it. When I argue with reality, I lose—but only 100% of the time.” Arguing with reality is nothing other than insane! Accept what is. 2. RESPONSIBILITY. Deepak Chopra puts it this way: “All problems contain the seeds of opportunity, and this awareness allows you to take the moment and transform it into a better situation or thing.” This goes perfectly with what we dug in the episodes on Jack Canfield’s success principles and his equation of E+R=O Event + Response = Outcome, and not Event = outcome. That last one is the definition of being a victim, and that is not what we want to be. We want to be response-able. In two words. To practice our ability to respond. Or as Steven Covey says in the 7 habits of highly effective people: habit NUMBER 1: BE PROACTIVE. Don't be a victim. Don't blame others for your responses to a given situation. Don't be a coward boss that blames his teams and employees. Take ownership. Take responsibility. 3. Defenselessness. As Deepak puts it, and I quote: “When you remain open to all points of view—not rigidly attached to only one—your dreams and desires will flow with nature’s desires…you can be sure when the season is right, your desires will manifest.” Keep an open mind, keep the doors open. When the season is right, your desires will manifest. I want to mention one thing. We are talking about manifestation, and that leads to the topic of the law of attraction. The law of attraction is a wonderful thing for some, and terrible sabotage for others. Yes, you must attract the good things in your life, but you need to work for it. Don't just lie in bed, and hope. Don't be a blind optimist. Open your heart to what you want to attract, and then open your brain and make a plan. We will talk about all this when we visit the amazing book very soon titled Rethinking positive thinking.
JOURNALING EXERCISES:
I want you to be creative and write 3 things you can do every day, starting today, to practice each component of the law of least effort.
1. 3 things to practice daily for Acceptance
2. 3 things to practice daily for Responsibility
3. 3 things to practice daily for Defencelessness
EMPOWERING AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY
* I accept where I am today, and prepare myself for growth
* I take responsibility for my actions. For any given situation, I have the ability to respond with calm
* My dreams and desires will flow with nature’s desires
* By keeping my mind open, and by taking daily action, I open my doors to the manifestation of my desires

“Karma is the eternal assertion of human freedom... Our thoughts, our words, and deeds are the threads of the net which we throw around ourselves.” This quote by Swami Vivekananda is a perfect introduction to the theme of today. As we continue on our journey through the Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success by Deepak Chopra, we dig into the third law, which is the law of karma. I’m sure you have heard of karma before, do you live it? Do you embody that law in your everyday lives? Let’s start by reading a passage from Deepak Chopra’s book “The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success”: “ The best way to understand and maximize the use of karmic law is to become consciously aware of the choices we make in every moment. “ Karma is basically a word for the law of cause and effect, which is pretty self-explanatory. One of the earliest associations between cause and effect, or causality and karma, is found in the Upanishad, written during the 7th century BCE. Here is a passage: “ Now as a man is like this or like that, according to as he acts and according to as he behaves, so will he be; a man of good acts will become good, a man of bad acts, bad; he becomes pure by pure deeds, bad by bad deeds; And here they say that a person consists of desires, and as is his desire, so is his will; and as is his will, so is his deed; and whatever deed he does, that he will reap. “ It’s a concept that we are all familiar with. You don't have to believe in re-incarnation like the Buddhists do, to appreciate the simple causalities law. If you do good things to others, others will do good things for you. This joins what we talked about yesterday in the law of giving. If you want love, give love. Here it is somewhat similar. If you want to be a good man, act well. Are you making conscious choices every day? Are you aware of the seeds you are planting, moment after moment in your daily lives with each decision, each action, and even each thought? If not, well it's time to be mindful of that. We talked about that concept in our earlier episodes when we talked about making the right decisions to tighten the gap between who you are today and who you could be at the best version of yourself, at your highest potential. Decisions that bring you +1% towards your goals and growth, or decisions that bring you back 1% towards a false sense of security and comfort. All this of course compounds over time.
JOURNALING EXERCISES:
Write down the answers to these questions: 1. Are you aware of the millions of micro-decisions you make every single day? Could be the way you answer in interactions, the way you decide to write a certain email to your employees, the food you decide to pack for your lunch, and so on. Micro decisions. Are you aware of them? 2. Write down 5 decisions you make daily that you could be more conscious about. 3. Are you consistently planting seeds for a better life? Put differently, what choices could you be more conscious of, and could you work on better in order to prepare better outcomes for your personal development and for the people you love? Take your time. You might want to put some reminders, like posits, on your fridge, on your phone, on your bathroom mirror, with the simple question: What kind of seeds are you planting today?
EMPOWERING AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY
* I reap the outcomes from the seeds I plant
* I am conscious of all choices and decisions I make
* As I behave, so will I be
* I become pure by pure deeds, and bad, by bad deeds

“In an orderly Universe, there is simply no way you can get something for nothing.” This quote is by Eric Butterworth, from his book titled “Spiritual economics” and is a perfect introduction to today’s episode. We continue on our journey through the Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success by Deepak Chopra, and today, we dig into the law of giving and receiving. Let’s start by reading a passage from Deepak Chopra’s book “The Seven Laws Of Spiritual Success”. “Practicing the Law of Giving is actually very simple; if you want joy, give joy to others; if you want love, learn to give love; if you want attention and appreciation, learn to give attention and appreciation; if you want material affluence, help others to become materially affluent. In fact, the easiest way to get what you want is to help others get what they want." If you want to receive, you must first give. If you want love, you first have to love. It is a very simple concept, and yet so important. And if you want more of something? You have to give more of that something. So what do you want more of? Love? Affluence? Appreciation? Give more of those, and you’ll get more of those back. Deepak says the best way to jump-start this energy in your life is to give something to every person with whom you come into contact. It doesn’t have to be something material—it could be a compliment or a prayer or a flower. Let’s take another look at what Eric Butterworth has to say on this subject, from his brilliant book titled “spiritual economics”: “The takers are the people who believe that their lives will always be the total of what they can get from the world. They are always thinking get, get, get. They plan and scheme ways to get what they want in money, in love, in happiness, and in all kinds of good. No matter that they may be applying metaphysical techniques, they still may very well be takers. But whatever may be their spiritual ideals or lack of any, no matter what they take, they can never know peace or security or fulfillment… The givers, on the other hand, are convinced life is a giving process. Thus their subtle motivation in all their ways is to give themselves away, in love, in service, and in all the many helpful ways they can invest themselves. They are always secure, for they intuitively know that their good flows from within.” It got me thinking of how entitled we have become. Maybe it is because of the internet, where we are so used to having a gigantic pool of free resources, that we forget the work people have to put in to provide all these free resources. So just to add on the law of giving and receiving, I think we should also practice the law of giving gratitude in places where we forget we should. You use google every day? How about a thought for those engineers that work 80 hours a week so that it is fast and efficient, and provides the best experience ever. And I don't want to hear: well yes but they are paid a lot of money. Thank you the people working at the water company to make sure I have water at home. Seams basic, but someone has to be behind it. Thank you the garbage collectors. It’s not a glamorous job maybe, but without them, we would have rats everywhere, and disease. Let’s take a moment to thank the people that work, maybe very indirectly, for our comforts and well-being.
Journaling exercise:
Write down what you are taking for granted on a daily basis, and write down your appreciation for these things or services. Send your gratitude to the people behind it. The people behind the screen you are watching now, or the people that built that chair you are sitting on. It seems basic, and a bit weird, but when you think about it, it’s pretty deep.
Now let’s move on to part 2:
Write down what you can give more of, starting today. Can you give more love to your friends? Significant other? Can you contribute more to your community? Either with donations of money or of time? Again, giving doesn’t have to be material. It can be appreciation, love, a nice note or message, even a thought can often do.
EMPOWERING AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY:
* I give first, and then receive
* I give love and receive love
* I give help, and then receive help
* I am grateful to the world for bringing me so many tools of comfort
* I get and give back

Today we are going to dig into a very very important concept from The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Spiritual Success by Deepak Chopra which is the law of Pure Potentiality. Let’s start by reading a passage from Deepak Chopra’s book “The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Spiritual Success”.
He says “When you discover your essential nature and know who you really are, in that knowing itself is the ability to fulfill any dream you have… and the more you experience your true nature, the closer you are to the field of pure potentiality.” It is not more complicated than that. If you want to fulfill any dream you have, you have to know what that dream is, and by doing that, unleashing your pure potentiality by realizing that you have the power to realize it. We have been working very hard together every single day, finding our purpose, finding our signature strengths, brushing up on our virtues. Basically, installing a deep sense of identity, of knowing who we are, and realizing what we are capable of doing. There is a good reason why the law of pure potentiality is his law #1. From realizing this, all that follows is possible. He continues by saying: “ When you experience the power of the Self, there is an absence of fear, there is no compulsion to control, and no struggle for approval or external power… Your true Self, which is your spirit, your soul, is completely free of those things. It is immune to criticism, it is unfearful of any challenge, and it feels beneath no one. “ I would add though, that the power of the self is not the ego. It is your self-confidence, your self-worth. Believing in yourself, in your potential, in your personal power without craving the approval of others external to your internal, intimate, deep self. Ralph Waldo Emerson, the great writer and thinker, puts it that way: “There’s nothing capricious in nature, and the implanting of a desire indicates that its gratification is in the constitution of the creature that feels it” There is nothing capricious in nature. You might call nature god, or the universe or the spirits, or whatever suits you best, just know that it is not capricious. If you have a desire, and I know that you do otherwise you would probably not be watching me this morning, then you must know that you have the power and the ability to manifest that desire. Before we really understand the law of pure potentiality though, we will need stillness. “ But first, you have to practice stillness. Stillness is the first requirement of manifesting your desires because in stillness lies your connection to the field of pure potentiality that can orchestrate an infinity of details for you “ Finding the stillness. Maybe easier said than done, but we are working on it together every single day. Deepak Chopra recommends meditation, 30 minutes, preferably twice a day. If you have been skipping those and that meditation really isn’t your thing, then there are other ways for you to find stillness. Simply sitting in front of the ocean, and doing nothing. Or going for a walk in nature. You can sit on a nice bench, without your iPhone and podcasts and music and the radio, and simply breathe. Slow down. Find stillness.
Journaling exercise:
Take a few minutes to write down our desires. What are your desires? Preferably, let’s think of our internal desires, ie, leading a fulfilling life, what would that look like, or living to our best capabilities, what would that look like, or radiating love, how would that look like. Yes, your desires might be a bigger house a faster car, more money, etc, but for the exercise, let’s focus on intrinsic goals.
